Born on the sand dunes of Corolla, Homer was one of many wild ponies that are regulars along the northern Outer Banks. He grew up with an older sister, Mare, and was close to his parents, Buck and Sally. Homer's dad taught him to play sports at a young age, and they found time to gallop to Outer Banks Daredevils games. Even though a game would end at night, they used lanterns around their necks to make it home, just like Homer had read his ancestors did in Nags Head. Homer started played baseball in pony leagues, working to play in the big leagues as a designated stallion. He got the call to the Churchill Downs League, but suffered a sprained hoof running after a ball in center field. Being injured and away from the beach only made Homer sad, and realized his home was back at Daredevils games. He returned and got a job as the official mascot, to the delight of all his friends from Corolla to Hatteras Village. Homer's favorite movies are The Natural and Seabiscuit, his favorite song is Mustang Sally in honor of his loving mother, his favorite book is Nights In Rodanthe, his favorite foods are grilled tuna caught off the boat Fintastic and two for Tuesday hotdogs at Daredevils games. He's a fan of Nick at Nite, since it's the only place he can find reruns of his favorite show, Mr. Ed. But he gets hoofin' and hollerin' for Daredevils season, and for kids, so he can brighten up their day just like the team did when he was a colt.
