The Outer Banks Daredevils Baseball Club sends out its condolences and prayers to the family and friends of Nathan Johnson, who recently passed away. Johnson, who played for the Daredevils in 2007, suffered a fractured skull after competing in a Toughman event in Oklahoma.
He became unresponsive and was taken to a local hospital, where he was later placed into a medically induced coma and passed away last Tuesday.
A special ceremony was held last Monday to wed Johnson and fiancée Andrea McKerley, who is expecting their first child.
Johnson was an organ donor, and a 4-year-old in critical condition will now receive Johnson’s liver. His kidneys have already been donated to help out ones in need.
Anyone wishing to assist the Johnson family with its medical expenses can contact Susie Maeder at Legacy Bank in Oklahoma at 405-485-9333.
