The Outer Banks Daredevils Baseball Club has signed Old Dominion utility player Donnie Corsner and Rutgers outfielder Mike Lang to its 2010 roster. Corsner was an impact player on last season's Daredevils team, spending time at catcher, first base and right field.
He was one of seven Outer Banks players to be named a Coastal Plain League All-Star and played in 41 games.
The Virginia Beach, Va. junior worked in late game heroics during the Daredevils' first round playoff game against Florence.
Trailing 4-3 in the bottom of the ninth with one out, Corsner belted a solo home run to tie the contest. Outer Banks later pulled out the victory, advancing the Daredevils into the CPL Petitt Cup Semifinals.
"Donnie is a competitor and was battling nagging injuries through the last half of the season," Outer Banks General Manager Owen Hassell said. "He didn't quit and kept fighting and really embodied our team's spirit last summer. We're glad to have him return to Kill Devil Hills."
Lang was the catalyst in his own right for the Valley League champion Haymarket Senators in 2009. The junior outfielder was named the tournament MVP and ranked as the Valley League's No. 4 prospect by Baseball America.
Also a league all-star, Lang finished third in the Valley with a .357 batting average and seven home runs.
For the Scarlet Knights, he was named team MVP and appeared in all 53 games last spring. He led Rutgers in near every offensive category, such as batting average (.343), slugging percentage (.560), hits (71), home runs (8) and total bases (116).
"I think Mike has many of the same qualities Donnie brought to our club last year," Hassell said. "His work ethic is a big plus, as well as his speed and potential as a leadoff hitter."

Last summer was a banner year for Outer Banks, winning the first half CPL North Division title and reaching the semifinals of the Petitt Cup Playoffs. Outer Banks is a member of the Coastal Plain League, the nation's hottest summer collegiate baseball league. Heading into its 14th season with 15 teams playing in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia, the CPL gives college players the chance to refine their skills with wooden bats during the summer months. Players are housed with local host families for the summer and past experiences have been very positive for both players and hosts.
